Bahia de Naranjo Nature Park
This ecological preserve is located on the northern coast of Holguin province, near the resort areas, between Playa Esmeralda and Playa Yuraguanal. The bay has an area of 4.2 km2 and is surrounded by 1,200 ha of forests. The average depth of the bay is 6 meters and it its basin contains approximately 25 million cubic meters of water. It's connected to the sea by a channel and has 5 keys, the largest being Cayo Jutia. Its 32-km coast includes 5 natural beaches and a coral reef more than 6 km long.
It's most popular attraction is the Delfinario Cayo Naranjo, a large dolphinarium connected to Cayo Jutia in the middle of the bay. The park also offers many options for those seeking to enjoy nature, visitors can explore a fascinating fauna and flora, including several endemic species. Around the bay and keys are many eco-tourist trails, the best known being the Las Guanas eco-archeological trail and the Penon-Conuco de Mongo-Vina eco trail. They also offer boat rides, and the bay has two restaurants: a seafood restaurant at the Delfinario and the Conuco de Mongo Vina country-style restaurant where you can sample the best home cooking after a visit to their cactus garden and mini-zoo.
