Marinas and Nautical Bases

There are two commercial marinas near Holguin's resorts, the international Marina Gaviota Oriente (aka Puerta de Vita) and the Nautical Base Marlin Guardalavaca (aka Sama Marina). They both offer a full range of water sports, catamaran cruises, diving and snorkeling excursions, fishing excursions, etc., but only the Marina Gaviota offer dockage services for private boats and yachts.

Marina Gaviota Oriente (Puerto de Vita)

This international marina operated by the Grupo de Turisme Gaviota S.A. is located in the eastern part of the resort areas, in a protected bay between Playa Pesquero and Playa Blanca. Their main product is the Delfinario Cayo Naranjo (a large delphinarium located in Naranjo Bay). Others services include: Catamaran cruises (full-day, half-day, sunset), scuba diving price list, boat tours, trolling fishing, excursion to Cayo Saetia, etc. See our Excursions section for more details. They manage several Puntos Nauticos (watersport centers) on the beach of the all-inclusive hotels in Playa Pesquero, Playa Yuraguanal and Playa Esmeralda.

They also offer a full-range of dockage and mooring services, see here their price list. Their installation consists of a fixed dock with a capacity for 38 aft berths for boats of different sizes; and another 15 boats capacity in the anchorage area of the Marina. The maximum draft on the quay varies between 2.5m and 3.5m. Quayside services include: drinking water, electric power (220V and 110V), fuel, laundry services, telephone, internet, garbage collection, supplies and minor repairs, ship chandler, bathrooms, bar, restaurant, 24 hour security, visas and formalities.

Nautica Marlin Guardalavaca (aka Sama Marina)

This marina is located in the Bahia Sama (Sama Bay), west of the Guardalavaca resort. It's a charter marina, visiting boats are not allowed. They offers a wide selection of nautical excursions: catamaran cruises, boat adventure (speedboat tour), fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, etc. See our Excursions section for more details.
