Guardalavaca

Guardalavaca is a small settlement near the beach resorts on the northwest coast of Holguin province. Guardalavaca is part of the municipality of Banes (35 km south), and is 58 km from the provincial capital, Holguin City. It is essentially a tourist village that attracts guests from the surrounding seaside resorts.

The region has a rich natural resource potential for tourism development, such as: beautiful beaches, dive sites, lush national parks, caves, protected bays, combined with cultural and historical sites with more than 10 archaeological sites, as well as cultural and traditional events.

We find in the village of Guardalavaca:

Playa Guardalavaca (beach) which is home to the all-inclusive Club Amigo Atlantico-Guardalavaca, Brisas Guardalavaca and Hotel Almirante, as well as the Eagle Ray diving center.

Guardalavaca Market: a open-air daily craft market where local artists offer many handmade products.

Centro Comercial Los Flamboyanes: a shopping center with a Casa del Habano (cigar store) and several other shops.

Clinicas del Sol Guardalavaca:: An international clinic part of the SMC network (Servicios Medicos Cubanos) where you'll also find a pharmacy.

Banco Financiero Internacional: The only bank in the immediate vicinity of the seaside resorts.

Casas Particulares and Paladares: Guardalavaca is home to several guest houses (called: casa particular) and family restaurants (called: paladar).

Bars and restaurants, many with live music.

Servicentro Cupet-Cimex: A gas station at the entrance of the village

How to get there:
Guests staying in the resorts located on Playa Guardalavaca can easily stroll the village on foot. If you're staying in another area, depending on the distance, you can reach Guardalavaca on a bicycle, by taxi or horse-drawn carriage, with a rented vehicle (scooter, car, jeep) or by taking the panoramic hop-on/hop-off bus called Guardalavaca Bus Tour.
