Holguin Airport The Aeropuerto Internacional Frank Pais, better known as Holguin Airport, is located about 13 km (8 mi) southwest of the city of Holguin. It serves the province of Holguin and other areas in the Eastern part of Cuba, but primarily the popular seaside resort of Guardalavaca and Rafael Freyre composed of several all-inclusive hotels located on Playa Guardalavaca, Playa Esmeralda, Playa Yuraguanal, Playa Pesquero, and Playa Blanca. Other beach resorts further away, such as Playa Covarrubias and Cayo Saetia, are also served by Holguin airport, as well as Mayari, Gibara, Las Tunas, Puerto Padre, Bayamo, etc.

The airport is named in memory of the Cuban revolutionary Frank Pais (1934-1957). It was built in 1962 initially only for military purposes before civilian air operations began on November 10, 1966. Frank País Airport has two terminals, one serving domestic flights the other international flights, the latter was built in 1996 by Canadian infrastructure company Intelcan Technosystems and expanded in 2007.

The two terminals (domestic and international) are air-conditioned and non-smoking. There's no jet-bridges, mobile staircases are used for embarking and disembarking passengers onto the tarmac.
